Wonderful Home Away from Home over Thanksgiving
Guest Alison (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mi)
      Date of stay 11/23/13
      Review Submitted 12/16/13
Three families (two from Florida and one from Michigan) met at Wells Stone Cabin to spend the week of Thanksgiving together. There were
six adults and seven children in our big group. This cabin met all of our needs and provided a wonderful home away from home for all of us to
enjoy the mountains of North Carolina and each other during the holidays. The cabin was spacious enough to not feel on top of each other, but
also cozy and warm enough to give it that homey feeling. The location of Maggie Valley was a great choice for us, as we were anxious to visit
Asheville, the Biltmore Estate and other attractions in the area. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a beautiful, private,
mountain cabin get away.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway,
sightseeing.

Owner response: We are so glad you all had a great time in our home. We really love staying at Wells Stone Resort for Thanksgiving--- you
feel like the Pilgrims and Indians will be joining you soon. We look forward to having you as a guest in the future. Ken and Laurie Wells

From the moment we pulled up to Wells Stone Resort we knew that we would have a fanastic week. We had a small wedding on the property
and it was gorgeous with the fall leaves and the mountain in the back ground. The property is well maintained and very clean. My family spent a
wonder wedding week there and we are looking forward to a return visit. The homeowner is very pleasent to work with and even called on our
first night there. We loved that our furry family member was able to join us.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Its pretty cool that you will always remember our home as your wedding spot. We hope you stay happily married as long as
we have (37 years). We are glad you had a great time and welcome you back any time. Ken and Laurie Wells

This was our third time renting Wellsstone for a two week vacation. We have stayed in this area several times in the past 20 years, but never
rented the same home twice. After staying in Wellsstone we knew that we could never find a more perfect house in a more perfect location. It is
ideal for a family vacation with plenty of space and comfort for all to enjoy. Our next smokey mountain vacation will definitely be booked at this
home away from home!

Owner response: Thank you for staying with us and taking care of our home. We hope you come back again for the 4 th time. Ken and Laurie

The Wells Stone Property was a fantastic getaway in the Maggie Valley area. It provided a spacious and decorative cabin with the peace and
tranquility of western North Carolina mountain life. The property manager let us into the cabin and was extremely knowledgable on both the
property and the surrounding area. The owner welcomed our arrival with a phone call to ensure we were satisfied with the cabin, and to give us
details of the property. The cabin can accommodate large families and is kid friendly. I would highly recommend this cabin and am looking
forward staying there in the future. A+++

Owner response: Thank you Jeff M., We look forward to your future stay in our home, and hope you had a safe trip home from your recent stay

My mom, sister, and I spent nine nights at Wellstone and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The home is beautiful, unique, and very
spacious. The views from the great room and the master room over the trees and mountains are spectacular. We spent hours relaxing and
enjoying the views and quiet among the trees. We were even visited one evening by a deer and a woodchuck in the front yard. We would
absolutely recommend Wellstone to any family or group looking for a special retreat.

Our family just spent another amazing two week vacation at Wellstone resort. We have visited Maggie Valley for several summer vacations,
this is the first time we stayed in the same home. We knew that we could never find a home more perfect than Wellstone. The owner and
property manager was very helpful in getting us acquainted with the property. The kitchen was well supplied and everything was immaculate.
The back patio was perfect for quiet serenity, the bedroom deck provided great sunsets, and the hot tub and waterfall was perfect after a long
day of hiking. I would definitely recommend Wellstone, and we look forward to returning for another family vacation in the future.

Pictures do not do this property justice, it is a must see. Looking to relax?? You will. Looking to be secluded, yet close to sooo much??? You
are. Our vacation consisted of 4 adults, 1 teenager and 3 around 10 years old. Everyone found a place to get away to. There was plenty to
entertain everyone. With its close proximity to everything day trips out were easy and the house was a pleasure to return home to. Our stay was
at the end of June 2012 and the weather was great for most of the week. Temps in the 70's. The heat cranked on Friday so we went to Sliding
Rock and hit some other waterfalls to cool off. Everyone had an excellent time and we will be back soon!!!

We vacationed in the North Carolina mountains for the first time - and we were so fortunate to find this wonderful home! It is secluded, and
surrounded by beautiful views (especially from the master bedroom). And this was the first time that we didn't say "I can't wait to get back home
to our own bed". The sleep number bed was heaven!! We enjoyed a fire every night on the patio...and took advantage of the hot tub. Every
amenity of the home is fabulous. We really fell in love with Maggie Valley as well....a great location that is perfect for day trips to the Biltmore, a
drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway and visiting Asheville, etc. We hope to return again next year!!

We have been renting homes in the Waynesville/Maggie valley area for years. I look forward every year to the cooler temps, the beautiful
mtns., good eating, and the fishing, swimming and all the other fun we have as a family. This year we stayed at "Wells Stone resort". It was so
much different than some of the others we stayed in; and we stay only in the nicest. We sat by the stream at night with a toddy and listened to
the waterfall (50 ft away). Some nites we got into the hot tub.Unlike some of the others we've stayed in; we had plenty of parking, a nice yard for
the kids (my grandkids), and a large deck to rock and read my book, or to grill on. This place is such a grande mix of old character and new
everything else. We look forward to going back (all 10 of us).

I really enjoyed the stay and the views were amazing. The only problem we had was when we arrived the driveway up the mountian was
completely iced over and we had major problems trying to get up. Alot of people were upset and if you dont have 4 wheel drive you wont make it
to the house if the driveway is iced over. I personally think the caretakers of the house need to clear the driveway before anybody else stays
because it it is a big hazard. Overall I would stay in it again if the driveway is clear.

sightseeing.

Owner response: John Who? We rented our home to a Brandon J. We are glad you had a good time at our home in Maggie Valley, NC We
always have our driveway plowed when it snows. When it rains and then freezes it is impossible to keep it un iced. We have no controll of the
weather and let all our rentals know the risks and delays created by possible storms. We strongly suggest 4 wheel drive in our rental
agreements. You can be sure if there is ice on our driveway, ALL OF MAGGIE VALLEY HAS ICE ON THEIR DRIVEWAYS Ken and Laurie Wells

Christmas 2010 was a joyous holiday for our family. Our youngest son is in the military and it's been three years since our whole family has
been together for the Christmas holidays. It was very important for us to choose the perfect cabin for this special Christmas - Wells Stone
Resort was that perfect place. It was everything and more than we hoped it would be - it is beautiful, well-equipped, and large enough to
comfortably sleep our famly of 10. Our four grandchildren had plenty of room to play throughout the house. The downstairs gameroom more
than held their interest for several hours of play. We made Wells Stone our home away from home. We even took our own artificial tree to set up
for our visit from Santa Claus. Ken, owner of Wells Stone, was a most thoughtful host. He called to make sure everything was as it should be
when we checked in and he even had the road graded up to the house when about 10" of snow hit us overnight. Snow skiing up on
Cataloochee was fabulous!! Tubing at Tubing World is always fun for the whole famlily! We love Maggie Valley and we loved staying at Wells
Stone Resort. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family!!

We can't say enough about Wellstone Resort. We have visited Maggie Valley several times and have always rented a home for a two week
period. We have stayed in some wonderful homes, but this house was the best by far. It is a mountain log home with all of the luxuries you
could possilby want. Our family especially enjoyed the hot tub and waterfalls after long days of hiking, rafting, etc. We cooked on the grill most
nights and enjoyed our family meals in our favorite room, the dining room. After dinner, we enjoyed playing pool and just sitting back relaxing at
the bar. The proximity to town was very convenient and made our day trips that much easier. I highly recommend this home, there is absolutely
nothing that could dissapoint. We look forward to enjoying our next vacation at Wells Stone Resort. Thanks Ken for a wonderful vacation.

Our trip to the Well Stone Resort was one of the best trips our family has ever taken. The home has everything a family would need from very
comfortable beds to a spectacular great room to a wonderful dining room that we enjoyed every night. Also, we loved sitting by the fire pit each
night while the stream flowed right next to us. Although you are up on top of the ridge and feel very secluded, the home is just 2 or 3 minutes
from Soco Road. Its overall location is great because Maggie Valley is equidistant between Asheville and Bryson City/ Cherokee. Even if we
hadn't gone rafting, tubing, hiking, boating, fishing, and to the Biltmore, I would have been happy just relaxing there, cooking out and hiking with
my boys and dog Maddie. To be honest, it exceeded our expectations and we hope to go back next summer. Thank you Wells Family!

more than we expected. The owner, Ken, was extremely helpful in planning our trip and getting us access to the house. The house had great
history and was fully stocked with appliances, cooking utensils, etc. We always take our two miniature dachshunds on vacation with us and
luckily this house was pet friendly. Everyone had a fantastic time and we would definitely recommend it! We also enjoyed the Biltmore Mansion

5 Stars out of 5 Stars Christmas at Wells Stone Mary Ann T. Apopka Florida Review Submitted January 8 2010 Date of Stay December 2009
We wanted a special place to spend a family Christmas and Wells Stone did not disappoint! Unprecedented amounts of snow kept us in for a
few days but we had plenty to keep us entertained between the hot tub pool table sat TV etc. The kids had a blast in the snow; being from
Florida it was a special treat. We spent a day at Tube World and went into Waynesville a quaint little town not far from the property, for an
afternoon of shopping. The cabin is authentic and rustic but still comfortable warm and very well maintained. Loved the kitchen! The views from
all sides are breathtaking and the snowy mountains added to the beauty We definately had the experience we were promised and can't wait to
get back! Recommended for Age 25 Plus, Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway Owner's

I was lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving at the Wells cabin. It was perfect! The combination of modern and historic made it so memorable.
The modernized kitchen made making a full Thanksgiving dinner easy and then eating in the original structure with the large log beams and
fireplace at one end of the room somehow made you connect to Thanksgivings of long ago. In addition to the cabins ammenities the locationis
also great. I enjoyed the surrounding area and the Biltmore all within an hours drive. It was not easy to leave when our time was up. Paul

Mr. and Mrs. Wells, My name is Carlos Padrino we had the pleasure staying in your cabin this past week August 1 thru the 9, with the Theen
family, Randy, Beverly and their children. My family and I were the first ones to get there, and we were fascinated with the entire layout of the
property. We live in Miami, Fl. and love to go to the mountains just to relax every 2 or 3 years. We're glad we had the opportunity to stay in such a
KOOL place, where we (the adults) could do our things and the kids had things to keep them busy and we knew they were safe. On behalf of
my family, we thank you and will definitely recommend it to others that would appreciate it as much as we did. I'm sure the Theens will send
you some of the many pictures taken throughout the property. Carlos Padrino & Family

Carlos Padrino & Family Carlos Padrino, Miami, Fl. 33142

Best part of the day was waking up to the fabulous view from the master bed, then having a cup of Deep Mountain Coffee while sitting in the
hot tub overlooking the waterfall and the view! It was also great to sit by the fire at night.

If I could use only one word it would be magnificent. The falling water soothes the soul,, the wind through the trees sounds like gentle surf and
snow white clouds form a halo around the distant mountain tops. Birds sing, hummingbirds hum, and the ground hog waits for falling seeds
that the squirrels drop. All framed by the sounds of distant church bells that echo through the valleys and up the mountains.Mr. Wells, his wife
and sons have created a private resort of peace, rest and serenity combined with innovative design, authentic materials and an artist’s
appreciation of tradition. With imagination, professional craftsmanship and superb attention to detail the small original cabins have been
transformed into a world class mountain home. The Wells’ have woven nature and comfort together in a seamless environment that
encourages relaxation and reflection. The 5 minute drive from mountain side isolation to the many activities of Maggie Valley makes the home
a perfect and convenient escape.Even with the many attractions Fort Wells is a hard place to leave. If we had stocked up on groceries we would
not have gone down the mountain for days.As the sun falls into the arms of the western sky, a night bird sings and the fire draws your eye to
forests that lived since the time before man.VADM Reef Perkins C.R.N.

We had a wonderful time in your beautiful home. The view from the master bedroom is incredible to wake up to. We especially enjoyed sitting
out by the waterfall and feeding carrots to the little rabbit that comes by every day. Lt. Governor & Mrs. Jeff Kottkamp, Tallahassee, FL

I just finished a week vacation with my kids and grandkids at your wonderful lodge. I wanted to tell you that you have one of the most beautiful
homes I have ever had the privilege of staying in. The location is perfect. Loved the pool tournaments and the dart games downstairs. The beds
were very comfortable and with the cool mountain air along with the sound of the waterfalls made for a very peaceful sleep. All of the rooms are
just beautiful and the slate floors are to die for. The master bedroom with the view, wow! My favorite room was the great room very pleasant with
all the windows bringing the outside in "wonderful". The kids had fun looking for the hidden treasures in the rock wall, very cleaver. We had fun
sightseeing and tubing but the best part was going back to the lodge, even the kids couldn't wait to get back there. This will go down as one of
my favorite vacations, I would love to return again soon. Thank you for building such a great home and offering it to vacationers. I will highly
recommend it to everyone. Anyone who rents this lodge will take home wonderful memories to cherish always. Thanks Terri Mauser

I took a chance last July and invested a precious vacation week of my time on a site unseen Blue Ridge mountain retreat, WellStone in
Maggie Valley NC. It was the right decision. WellStone provided my family and friends with a private and totally relaxing Blue Ridge mountain
retreat experience at a bargain price.

This home is absolutely gorgeous. Perched high up on the mountain it is beautifully rustic, comfortably spacious yet warm and homey. It is
completely secluded and very peaceful yet minutes from the heart of Maggie Valley with great restaurants and quaint shops. Great location it is
central for many activities, such as tubing, fly fishing, sightseeing, rich cultural history, dining and shopping. Something for everyone. Or just
stay at the cabin and relax in the hot tub or slide into the exhilarating cold water falls. Great fun playing darts and pool in the game room. No
stuffy AC needed! just open the windows and let the cool mountain air soothe your soul. Great place for a romantic getaway or a fun family
vacation. The owners are great to work with and are very accommdating, thanks Ken and Laurie. This home has everything needed for a
memorable mountain vacation. We highly recommend Wells Stone Resort home for anyone looking for a mountain rental. Don't hesitate just
do it you may never want to leave. We didn't! The Mauser family from the hot sandy beaches of NC

Wellstone is a wonderful reprieve from the big smoke of the city. Waking to the crisp air, huge swaying pine tops and distant church bells in
the morning brings you instantly to a restorative state. The home fills your heart with a warm hearth and beautiful furnishings. The mountains
and nearby village slows your step into a relaxed pace where people look you in the eye and sincerely ask "how are you all??" We highly
recommend a reprieve here in the high mountains and low key atmosphere. We would return here in a heartbeat.

We truly enjoyed this home, it was all so beautiful. We have rented many places and have never had such a wonderful outdoor experience.
The interior was also fabulous; we loved the great room and kitchen, and the beautiful dining room.
